Sounds of the Forest

Community member Derek Gunnlaugson recorded this nighttime chorus of breeding male Grey Treefrogs (Hyla versicolor), masters of camouflage, under the full moon at Treesblood Pond, adjacent to AFFI, on the night of June 7th-8th, 2017. On some of the recordings, produced in full surround sound, one can also hear the call of the Sora Rail (Porzana carolina). Dim the lights, sit back, and relax with a cuppa as you imagine yourself in this place long before the coming of civilization. Better yet, make an evening visit to Treesblood Pond in early June and experience it for yourself!
